Covid-19 Recruitment drive

Resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic a vast number of jobs were shed in the economy due to the impact of lockdown restrictions. Government is making a concerted effort to alleviate some of the hardship and losses suffered by South African (SA) citizens through job creation attempts, albeit short or medium term. 

In support of this and other employment focussed initiatives by Government to address past imbalances, the Management of the South African Library for the Blind (SALB) invites applications from suitably qualified SA citizens for the undermentioned positions to commence on 1 August 2020 or earlier. Candidates from designated groups, particularly from the disability sector, as well as youth and female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply being the target audience for this recruitment drive.

1) Receptionist – 1 x half-day position up to 31 March 2021

Minimum Requirements:

N6 or higher-level qualification in an office administration/management field; or Grade 12 with 1.5 years working experience in a similar role. Good English written and verbal communication skills; very good people skills, i.e. a good listener and communicator with a friendly and positive demeanour; a good working understanding of office equipment and processes. A quick learner with attention to detail.
Remuneration:

R59.02 all-inclusive cost per hour - paid monthly based on actual number of hours worked.

2) Driver - 1 x full day position up to 31 March 2021
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 with English passed as a subject. Ability to receive and understand instructions and to respond satisfactorily in English. Valid and unendorsed driver’s license for a motor car, together with a valid Professional Driving Permit. A friendly demeanour, responsible driver who is meticulous about maintaining the vehicle he/she uses in a good and clean state. Good self-awareness in terms of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Remuneration:

R23.53 all-inclusive cost per hour - paid monthly based on actual number of hours worked.

3) Administration Intern - 1 x full day post (12-month Internship Contract)
Minimum Requirements:

N6 or higher- level qualification with no less than 1 year continuous relevant work experience in an office administrative environment; or Grade 12 with no less than 1.5 years office administrative work experience in a service organisation. Good administrative and organizational skills; detail oriented and deadline driven; good English written and verbal communication skills; Intermediate level experience in Ms Word and Excel; good numeracy skills; proven experience in having dealt with procurement and suppliers. A fair working knowledge of the PFMA and SCM legislation and prescripts will be an advantage.
Stipend:

R6 182 per month
