Technical Officer
SOUTH AFRICAN LIBRARY FOR THE BLIND
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The South African Library for the Blind (SALB) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are South African citizens for the following position to commence on 1 December 2022 or earlier:
TECHNICAL OFFICER
The main responsibility of the incumbent (this is not an exhaustive list) is to render technical support services within the SALB, e.g. uploading the electronic manual onto playback devices; maintaining and repairing of audio playback devices; general repair and maintenance of electronic and/or electrical devices used in the Library that is outside of warrantee periods, general building repairs and maintenance, including minor plumbing repairs; and related duties. Serve as the first point of call for service providers/contractors in terms of the major repairs and maintenance requirements within the SALB; oversee and ensure the good repair and maintenance of the SALB vehicle(s); etc. Serve as Transport Officer and serve as the Health and Safety Office of the SALB. Attend to all administrative and recordkeeping responsibilities in relation to the post.
Minimum Requirements & Attributes
N6 Certificate (Engineering/ Electronics/ Electrical/Fitter & Turner/Boilermaker); plus 2 year's working experience in a related field; Diploma and/or completed apprenticeship in any of the above fields may be an added advantage. Valid and unendorsed Code B or higher driver’s license. Good English written and verbal communication skills. Good general technical skills and capabilities, with particular emphasis to electronics (light current). Good Ms Office skills. Good leadership skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Prior working experience in Health and Safety in an office environment will be advantageous. Successful completion of at least the Introduction to SAMTRAC course.
Remuneration
Annual Basic Salary around R231 216,00 per annum (This excludes the value of other salary related fringe benefits)
