SALB Library remains operational

The South African Library for the Blind is currently operational and has adopted working in shifts, with a one week from the office and one week from home arrangement.

Library Members and the public are advised to contact the Library via telephone and email in order to enquire in regards to services. The Library will only close for a few days for decontamination should a staff member test positive.

Although the numbers of the COVID-19 positive cases are gradually increasing nationally the President recently announced that the country will remain on Lockdown level 3. With this being said the Library will continue being operational. Please sanitize items and reading materials upen receiving them via courier or a third party. 

We once again reiterate that everyone must please continue practicing social distancing, good hand sanitation, and monitor yourselves and your family for COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath.  

Our quarterly newsletter, the Makwenzeke, will be going out soon and you can also look out for the new SALB website which will be launched soon.

Update on the new Library Management System:

The teams from Universal Knowledge Software (UKS) and SALB are busy finalising the outstanding modules and the system should be up and running tentatively by end October 2018.

In the meantime the Circulation Staff continue to manually select books based on your reading interests.
